Gadar 2 is the most talked about Bollywood film of the year. In just over a week and a half of release, the Sunny Deol-starrer has coasted past Rs 500 crore worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films ever. With Gadar 2 emulating the feat of part 1, audience is already wondering if there is some scope for part 3. Given that Gadar 2 ends with an ambiguous ‘to be continued’ message, that does seem likely.

In a chat with DNA, the film’s team opened up about what we could expect from Gadar 3. The director Anil Sharma remains tight-lipped on whether Sunny Deol’s Tara Singh is returning. “You need to wait and watch. It says ‘to be continued’,” is his curt answer on the matter. When pressed, the film’s second lead and Anil’s son Utkarsh Sharma replies, “Even I don’t know. He has kept the cards close to his chest but I know there is something brewing in his mind.”

The team does say that Anil Sharma and the writers have something in mind but it would be too premature to say anything and how it will shape up. Simrat Kaur, who made her acting debut with the film, reveals that even though she was in the film, the end was a surprise for her. “I had no idea that was going to happen. Even when we watched the first day first show in Mumbai, we left before the credits because we wanted to leave before the other members of the audience. We went again and this time we were all covered up to avoid being recognised. That is when I stayed till the end. That’s when I saw the ‘to be continued’ line in the end. I looked at Anil sir and he started laughing,” she tells us.

Gadar 2 released in theatres on August 11 alongside OMG 2 and saw one of the biggest opening days for a Hindi film. In the 11 days since, it has already become the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi film in India and is steadily on course to surpass the top three – Pathaan, Baahubali 2, and KGF 2.
