Headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, Jawan is one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema this year and the film's advance bookings is shattering records with each passing day. Within the first 24 hours, the film has sold tickets worth more than Rs 10 crore and with five more days till its release, Jawan could become the film with highest advance booking numbers in the history of Indian cinema.

The National Award-winner Vijay Sethupathi, who has already won the hearts of the audiences with his brillian performances in Tamil films and the Prime Video show Farzi, will be seen as the main antagonist in Jawan. He plays Kaali, the fourth largest weapon dealer in the world.

Vijay has already made his Bollywood debut with the crime drama Mumbaikar, which premiered on JioCinema in June this year. But not many people know that the actor was supposed to make his Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha, which released last year.

Aamir had himself offered the Advait Chandan directorial to Sethupathi in Chennai and the latter had even agreed to be a part of it but as the Covid-19 happened, he couldn't place Laal Singh Chaddha in his tight schedule. He discussed about the same in an interview with The News Minute in 2021.

"Aamir sir personally offered me the role. He then flew down to Tamil Nadu where I was shooting to narrate the script to me. For some reason the director Advait Chandan couldn’t come. Aamir sir came alone, narrated the script and stayed overnight in that town and left the next morning. Such a big superstar and no airs. And he is a marvelous storyteller. The way he narrated the story was mesmerizing. I immediately said yes. But then Covid happened. It ransacked all our plans. After the lockdown I had five Telugu projects in various stages of production to complete. I just couldn’t accommodate Laal Singh Chaddha in my schedule", Vijay said.

Eventually, Vijay Sethupathi's role in Laal Singh Chaddha was played by Naga Chaitanya, who also made his Bollywood debut in the 2022 film which tanked at the box office. Now, the Super Deluxe actor is set to entertain the audiences with his villainous role in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan releasing in cinemas on September 7.
