Amidst the volatile economic situation in the world, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) will kick-start its final placements for the batch 2010-12 from Monday. The cohort-based placement system at the premier B-school will start on February 13 will be completed by February 26, states official communication from the institute.

Completion of recruitment within 15 days by participating agencies in four different clusters of final placements is an experiment that the IIM-A placement cell has chosen to undertake this year. Last year, companies from each cluster recruited students on weekends extending the placement season for a month.

Chairman of the placement cell at the IIMA, Prof Saral Mukherjee told DNA that after experimenting with the system with shorter time gap between the two clusters in the summer placement, they will introduce the system in the final placement.

"We realised students were getting anxious when each clusters were kept after the gap of seven days. So, we modified the system and experimenting with this new system where there is shorter gap between each cluster. This will help students relax for some days and keep away from anxiety," he said.

Following the newly-introduced Indian Placement Standard Reporting (IPRS), the IIM-A is keeping all details a secret. DNA's query about the number of students participating in the placements could not get any response. The IIM-A, as part of the placement policy, doesn't want to reveal which cluster will recruit students on a specific date.
