Novel coronavirus: Death toll rise to 9 in China; number of cases reach 400

On Wednesday, China's Deputy Director of the National Health Commission, Li Bi confirmed the case of 400 people in 13 Chinese provinces infected with a new coronavirus as of January 21st. 

The death toll has reached nine according to the officials.

As per the reports, as for now 2,197 cases of coronavirus have been detected and 750 patients have been discharged.

The thermal screening of passengers from China will be done at 7 Indian airports as per the alert issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) on Tuesday. 

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has directed for all logistics support and arrangements to be made immediately with regard to screening of passengers arriving in India from China including Hong Kong at the airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Cochin 

The decision has been taken after the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued an advisory regarding 2019-nCoV.

For health screening at airports, provision of space at the pre-immigration area with logistics to install the thermal cameras will be made at these airports. Airlines staff have been asked to bring the passengers to the health counters before the immigration check.

On Tuesday, the United States Centre for disease control confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the country which claimed the lives of six people in Asia. 

The passenger was travelling from Wuhan to Washington is currently in isolation at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

Four countries have reported to the WHO confirmed cases with most for China.

A strain of coronavirus labeled as 2019-nCoV, it has led to an outbreak of viral pneumonia in China.
