iPhone users are extra careful when it comes to their precious phones as they cost a fortune. Losing an iPhone can be rather depressing as chances of finding it may often not be much.

But an iPhone owner was reunited with his phone after spending nearly six months in a lake. Yes, SIX months!

According to a report by AppleInsider, a diver couple recovered an iPhone 11 from the bottom of Harrison Lake in British Columbia, one that managed to survive submerged for almost 6 months.

Clayton Helkenberg and his wife Heather are free drivers hailing from Chilliwack and they often like to dive to the bottom of the lake to find lost items and clear rubbish.

Recently, the couple found an iPhone and a flip phone at the bottom of the lake. While the flip phone was severely damaged, the iPhone was in a far better condition with just a broken microphone and speaker issues.

"I took it home, cleaned the dirt off of it, and it just turned right on, so it was pretty amazing," said Clayton.

The iPhone turned out to be the property of a Vancouver resident, Fatemeh Ghodsi who dropped it during a boat ride in September 2020.

"I was in a situation where I kind of lost balance and dropped it in the water," said Ghodsi who was forced to return empty-handed after staff members at the park told her it was impossible to find the iPhone in the water.

When the diver couple reached out to, and texted Ghodsi, she thought she was being pranked by her friends. She was later convinced to visit Chilliwack to get her smartphone, said the report.

"I was in complete shock, initially to start with. It was kind of like a zombie phone coming back to me, because I'd totally make peace with it being gone,” Ghodsi said.

Apple iPhones come with an IP (ingress protection) rating which certifies that the device will be safe underwater or a specific period of time. The iPhone 11 comes with a rating of IP68, which means it can survive a maximum depth of two meters underwater up to 30 minutes.
