Chandrayaan-3, India's third lunar mission, was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on July 14. After successfully entering the lunar orbit on August 5, the spacecraft accomplished a gentle landing on the Moon's south pole on August 23. This achievement marked India as the first nation to softly land a craft on the Moon's south pole and the fourth to achieve a soft landing with an uncrewed vehicle on the lunar surface.
