In a shocking incident, an AirAsia passenger was arrested at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport after customs officials made a distressing discovery within his luggage. The individual, a 22-year-old native of Ramnad in Tamil Nadu, had arrived in Bengaluru from Bangkok on an AirAsia flight late Monday night.

Authorities became suspicious of the passenger's behavior and subsequently intercepted him for questioning. What followed was a startling revelation that sent shockwaves through the airport's customs department. Upon inspecting the passenger's suitcase, officials were met with a bewildering sight - over 230 live reptiles and a deceased baby kangaroo.

The baby kangaroo, known as a joey, was reportedly just a few months old. Tragically, it had met its end due to suffocation while concealed inside the man's luggage. The circumstances surrounding this disturbing incident have left many in disbelief.

According to reports from the Times of India, the joey's demise came to light during the investigation of the man's belongings. Plastic containers within his suitcase held an assortment of venomous reptiles, including four monocled cobras or spitting cobras, pythons, iguanas, lizards, tortoises, and even small crocodiles. The extent of this illicit wildlife smuggling operation has raised concerns about the prevalence of such activities.

An investigator involved in the case shared the chilling details, stating, "One of the containers had something that looked like a small dog. We opened it and were stunned to find that it was a young kangaroo, which was concealed inside and smuggled. Sadly, it died owning to suffocation inside the suitcase."

The individual responsible for this unlawful act was promptly arrested and subsequently detained. He now faces charges under Section 104 of the Customs Act. Despite his claims of being unaware of the contents of his luggage, authorities are treating this matter seriously, given the scale and nature of the smuggling attempt.

As the investigation unfolds, the rescued reptiles have been safely returned to their originating location in Thailand. Additionally, authorities are delving into the connection between the smuggler and Bengaluru, particularly the intended recipient of the smuggled animals
