Today, she's not only a popular actress in the South and Bollywood, but she's also an acclaimed, popular personality on Indian television as well. Yes, she's none other than Sudha Chandran.  
 
Sudha Chandran's background
 
Born on September 27, 1965, Sudha hails from Mumbai, but her family originates from Vayalur, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. Sudha's father K.D. Chandran was a former actor. and worked at USIS. Sudha completed her graduation in BA from Mithibai College, Mumbai, and then did her MA in economics. 
 
The tragic accident that changed Sudha's life forever
In 1981, Sudha met with an accident in Tamil Nadu and her legs were severely wounded. Sudha was only 16 years old at that time. During her treatment, doctors discovered that Sudha's right leg was affected by gangrene. Doctors advised for amputation, and her affected leg was amputated. Sudha regained mobility with the help of a prosthetic Jaipur foot. 

After her tragic accident, there was a time, when Sudha gave up on her life. In an interview with Etimes, Sudha admitted, "I didn’t want to live after the accident." However, her parents encouraged her, and she decided to get back to the struggle of living her dreams. After a gap of two years, Sudha returned to dance and became a celebrated performer. Apart from India, Sudha has performed in Saudi Arabia, United States, UK, Canada, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen and Oman.
 
Sudha Chandran's debut movie on her life and the downfall
 
Sudha made her acting debut with Telugu movie Mayuri (1985). The movie was based on her life, and it was a box-office success. After Mayuri, Sudha did several Tamil, Telugu films, but they didn't work at the box office. Due to back-to-back failures, Sudha was advised to leave the film industry. 

There was a phase in her life when Sudha had no work. The acclaimed actress was unemployed for 7 years. In between, Sudha married assistant director Ravi Dang in 1994. Although Sudha's Tamilian parents were against the marriage, she convinced them to accept Punjabi as their son-in-law. As Etimes reported, the couple decided not to have any kids, and they even didn't adopt any child. 
 
Sudha Chandran's comeback and successful second innings

Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms offered Sudha the character of rich businesswoman tyrant Ramola Sikand in the series Kahin Kisi Roz (also known as Kaahin Kissii Roz), and it became the turning point of her life. The series and her character became immensely successful, and the people who advised her to leave the industry went on to give her Best Actor in Negative Role awards. Sudha was also seen making an impact in series such as Adaalat, Naagin franchise, Bepannah Pyaar, Ishq Mein Marjawan, and Bekaboo. Sudha has done many films such as Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, Malamaal Weekly, Saamy 2, and other movies.
