Chris Gayle might find the going tough in Indian Premier League after IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla took note of the Jamaican's sexist remarks which he made in an interview with journalist Charlotte Edwardes from British newspaper The Times.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener boasted about his 'very, very big bat' in the interaction which provoked reaction from cricketing circles and beyond.  The 36-year-old Jamaican said women enjoyed "more than equality" and insisted his countrymen took a relaxed view about sex.

Big Bash League (BBL) outfit Melbourne Renegades have already announced that they will not offer him a fresh contract for the next season. Gayle also faces a possible censure from English county club Somerset, for whom he's slated to play soon.

"The players must behave themselves. We expect the players to adhere to a certain kind of behaviour when the tournament is on. The players should maintain the sanctity of the league. These kind of statements are totally uncalled for in public domain. I will take up this issue with the president and the secretary of the BCCI," Shukla was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

Shukla also said he would take up the matter with the Royal Challengers Bangalore management, however BCCI may only act if a complaint is lodged against the West Indian.

"At this point, we'll not look into it. We're focused on completing the IPL, which has reached its final stages. What has happened in this case is between two foreign individuals. It is a personal matter between people who aren't from India. At the same time, that doesn't mean that we'll ignore it. If a complaint is brought to us, we'll act on it. If it develops into something more, we'll look into it at an appropriate stage," Ajay Shirke, BCCI secretary said.
