Jose Mourinho who has been jobless since being sacked as Manchester United boss says he has turned down three offers. The 55-year-old who was removed for showing no progress with results, style or developing young players has rejected these criticisms.

A former United player, Gary Neville had said that no-one should be able to shape their own philosophy at the club again to which Mourinho replied, "Gary Neville doesn't know my philosophy.

"My philosophy depends. I would love to go to a club and have [the same] conditions that [Liverpool boss] Jurgen Klopp and [Manchester City manager] Pep Guardiola did.

"I refused already three jobs because I didn't feel it was what I want."

Mourinho is understood to have a non-disclosure agreement signed as part of his pay-off from the club – meaning he is not allowed to talk about his departure.

But he did talk about how he hid in a laundry basket for a Champions League tie in 2005.

The Portuguese manager admitted for the first time that after being banned from having direct access to his players for their UEFA Champions League, he went to the extreme of taking help from Stuart Bannister and sitting in a basket to avoid detection.

He revealed, "I'm there since midday, and the game is 7 pm. I just want to be in the dressing room when the players arrive. So I go there, nobody sees me. The problem was to leave after.

"Stewart put me in the basket. The metal one, the hard one. Puts me in there. I go in there with a little bit open, so I could breathe, but when Stewart is taking that outside the dressing room, outside the stadium, the UEFA guys are there desperate to find me.

"So when I was there, Stewart closed the box. I couldn't breathe. When he opened the box, I was dying. I'm serious. I was close to dying. I'm serious, I promise."
