Maintaining that BJP will fight the election with Shiv Sena as its major partner in the mega-alliance, leader of the opposition in state legislative council Vinod Tavde said that the seat-sharing issue of the allies will be over before BJP's central election committee (CEC) meets in New Delhi this weekend.
While speaking to the media on Tuesday, Tavde said, "We want to finish the final list of our party candidates by September 20 since the CEC is meeting this weekend." However, he added that they would be declaring the names of candidates of a few seats after the CEC meeting. He explained that some names would be announced later because BJP would decide its candidates for these constituencies on the basis of candidates from the rival alliance.
When asked about curtailing of national president Amit Shah's visit by cancelling the third day's programme, Tavde said, "One of the reasons behind cancelling the programme is that we want to expedite the issue of finalising candidates." Tawde also pointed out that when Shah is there in the state for two days, the leaders would have to accompany him for the Vidarbha tour on the third day, or else, it can send a wrong message. "The scheduled programme at Chaundi where the Sangharsh Yatra is concluding on Thursday, cannot be changed and that is the reason the third day's schedule has been cancelled," he added.
Tavde made it clear that BJP does not want to break the 25-year-old alliance with Shiv Sena. "We have an opportunity to make Maharashtra Congress-NCP free. While achieving this, what we demand is the seats which Sena has been losing for years."

Reiterating his statement of arresting Ajit Pawar once the mega-alliance comes to power, Tavde said, "People of Maharashtra have experienced Moglai (Mughal rule) for the past 15 years and we would bring in Shiv Shahi, where every corrupt person is punished stringently. I want to tell Pawar that he has shown enough arrogance and now it is time to repay. I will ensure that he is jailed for his deeds in the irrigation scam."
