The Mumbai Police’s Twitter handle has received an array of complaints about errors in the Mumbai Traffic Police(MTP) App interface, along with queries about how it works and functions.

Nikhil Kulkarni, one of the complainants reached out to ‘ Mumbai ka DNA’ helpline to narrate his plight related to the app’s functioning.

Kulkarni took to twitter to complain about the interface of the App not working across Mumbai. He chanced upon it when he was filing a complaint about a civilian using a number plate that had ‘POLICE’ written on it.

When DNA connected with Kulkarni he stated, “The MTP app is non-functional, it is constantly giving errors while reporting violations. Hence, I tweeted to the Mumbai Police handle with a photo of this private car displaying “Police” plates on its dashboard.”

He further said that though the team replied back saying the complaint has been forwarded to the traffic branch, no revert has been received as yet, even after follow-up. The MTP app has the worst interface and has always been problematic.

“The Police themselves launched a campaign to crackdown on people displaying these illegal plates/stickers on private cars; hence, they should appreciate that citizens are tweeting to report violations,” explained Kulkarni.

He alleged that no action has been taken on his complaint. As soon as we press the submit button it refuses to admit the application by showing some error. Usually the errors are as trivial as location not identified.

Sandeep Bhajibhakre, DCP Mumbai Suburban Traffic, told DNA “These technical issues are being looked up in the headquarters and the technical team will resolve it. The MTP app is to help people and address their complaints. I would not be willing to comment on this as these are technical issues.”
