Man who tried to kidnap girl in Kurla sent to custody

The autorickshaw driver, who was arrested by the Vinoba Bhave Nagar police on Wednesday for allegedly trying to kidnap a minor girl from outside her Kurla house, has been remanded in police custody till June 29 by the Kurla metropolitan magistrate’s court on Thursday.

API Dattatray Bhilare of the Vinoba Bhave Nagar police station said on Thursday that the blood sample of Kamlesh Sharma was sent for a DNA test at Kalina Laboratory.

Sharma has been staying at Patelwadi compound in Gurudutta
Nagar, Kurla (West) for more than two decades with his wife and a nine-year-old daughter. In April, his wife, who is pregnant, had gone along with their daughter to their native place at Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh for delivery. Since then, Sharma had been staying alone, Bhilare added.    

Residents at Bhoudha colony at Kurla nabbed Sharma on Wednesday afternoon in an inebriated condition while he was trying to lure minor girls by giving them chocolates and cash. They thrashed Sharma before handing him over to the police.
