Helpline number for traffic complaints launched

The helpline will provide traffic advisory, route advisory, public information like information regarding pay-and-park, BEST, railways, metro, taxi, auto rickshaws, verify officers- information regarding police officers and men working in the traffic branch, towed vehicle information, notification of incidents, details on applications and permissions, and so on.

The Mumbai traffic police, on Tuesday, launched a helpline number for dissemination of information and registering traffic-related complaints, at its headquarters in Worli. The helpline was launched by the hands of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and commissioner of Mumbai police Ahmed Javed.

"I now declare the Mumbai traffic police (MTP) helpline 8454 999 999 to be open for the public. Make the best use of it," said Roshan, while launching the service. The "citizen centric helpline" can be accessed by the people through voice call, WhatsApp, SMSes, emails and mobile application.

The helpline will provide traffic advisory, route advisory, public information like information regarding pay-and-park, BEST, railways, metro, taxi, auto rickshaws, verify officers- information regarding police officers and men working in the traffic branch, towed vehicle information, notification of incidents, details on applications and permissions, and so on. Citizens can also register complaints through the helpline, and a specific complaint number will be generated which will help them keep a track of action taken on their complaints.

"As people start using the helpline and application, the databases will get populated and enriched with more data, so that we can help you get more information," said Milind Bharambe, joint CP, traffic, while explaining the service. Further, installation of 200 variable-message signs (VMS), MTP enchallan system, and a multimedia centre are on the cards.

Ahmed Javed said, "when I was the additional and joint CP, the technology was not very advance. 100 was the only helpline for the citizens. This helpline will prove to be a top-of-the-line service. Traffic is an important issue in our day-to-day life. We always try our best to provide good services for the convenience of people. I hope maximum people use the helpline, and any suggestions or add-ons are always welcome, for its improvement."

"The helpline is a powerful tool for the citizens. The facility will empower us with information and make our lives convenient and safe. This initiative is an absolutely brilliant example of dedication and concern that the traffic police has for us," Hrithik said, praising the MTP.
