Unless the local bodies meet this condition, they will not receive any grants from the 14th finance commission. The municipalities will also have to segregate garbage at source if they wanted land to dump the waste.

"All the municipalities in the state including gram panchayats will have to allocate 25 percent of funds for Swachhta Abhiyan then and then only these local self bodies will be eligible for grants from 14th finance commission", said Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The guidelines framed by the union government will have to implemented by all Municipal bodies. This calls for urgent attention on segregation at source.Meanwhile, Anil Parab, MLC from Konkan alleged that garbage vehicle operators are involved in big scams. These vehicle operators help developers to dump debris in mangroves and helps developer for illegal land filling.CM sais that Civic Vehicles will now have GPS technology so that the vehicles can be tracked.Fadnavis also said that Deonar, Kanjur and Mulund dumping ground falls under CRZ, hence we get only 50 percent of the land to use.
