The state’s road development agency will install and commission digital display boards showing details of toll collection at 65 toll stations across the state within three months.
Earlier, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had claimed that toll operators make windfall gains.

An official of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC) said that the boards displaying toll collection details will bring about transparency.

He added that boards have been or are being installed at Mulund, Vashi, Dahisar, the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and three places in Nagpur.

The boards will display updated toll collection details in an 8am-to-8am cycle on a daily basis, apart from displaying other details.

However, MNS general secretary Anil Shidore said the system was an “eyewash”. “An independent toll-monitoring agency is necessary,” said Shidore, adding that MSRDC too needs to make surprise checks on toll stations to verify and confirm toll collection figures.
