Parsva Ekadashi, also known as Parivartini Ekadashi or Padma Ekadashi, is a significant day for devotees of Lord Vishnu, marked by fasting and prayers. In a year, approximately 24 Ekadashis are observed, and Parsva Ekadashi is a momentous occasion celebrated with great devotion. Here are some key details and practices associated with this special day:

Date:

According to Drik Panchang, Parsva Ekadashi falls on September 25, and September 26, this year. These auspicious days fall on Monday and Tuesday.

Puja Rituals:

Devotees begin their day with an early morning bath, followed by the placement and worship of Lord Vishnu's idol. During the day, they chant the Ekadashi Vrat Katha and recite the Vishnu Sahastranaam. Aarti is performed as well. It's important to note that consuming rice is prohibited on Ekadashi, and the fast can be broken on Dwadashi Tithi.

Parana Timings:

On September 26, the Parana (fast-breaking) time begins at 1:25 PM and ends at 3:49 PM. For Gauna Ekadashi on September 27, the Parana time starts at 6:12 AM and ends at 8:36 AM.

Significance:

Parsva Ekadashi holds significance because it is believed that Lord Vishnu changes his sleeping position from the left to the right side on this day, hence the name Parsva Parivartini Ekadashi. In some regions, devotees also worship Lord Vishnu in his Vamana avatar. Observing this fast and offering prayers with devotion is believed to bring blessings of prosperity and inner peace. It is also believed that observing this day's rituals can help individuals alleviate their karmic burdens and free them from the cycle of birth and death, leading to salvation.
