Meet Pranay Patel- the man redefining the art of wildlife photography

Photography is by far one of the most creative professions ever. While the life of a photographer looks very fascinating, there goes a lot of process behind clicking one perfect shot. Wildlife photography, in particular, is one big challenge and very few can master the art of clicking breathtaking pictures of nature and animals.

Pranay Patel, a talented photographer is one of the emerging names who started his journey at the tender age of 13. The Ahmedabad-based guy began his professional career in 2011 who always had a flair for covering exotic wildlife in India and other parts of the world. 

It is only through his understanding of the behavioural patterns of wildlife and the habitat, he has captured some beautiful shots of animals in the forests. With almost a decade in this field, it has been his curiosity to learn more that has made him a promising name among the top wildlife photographers of tomorrow. His immense passion for wildlife helped him embark on more than 100 photography trips in different wildlife sanctuaries and parks of the world. Through his work, he has rightly brought India on a global map. Being in this field, he says that one must have the patience to succeed. Talking about his incident of missing a perfect shot of Black Panther, Pranay revealed that he was inching closer to capture a perfect shot until the animal moved away.  

In wildlife photography, the biggest drawback is the fact that animals are constantly moving and a photographer might take days, months, or even years to capture the perfect shot. Speaking about his thumb rule during his safari visits, Patel said, “Once on the location, I open my backpack and set the camera. Throughout the journey, my eyes are all around looking for the best picture of nature’s beautiful creatures. The attention to detailing is very important and it has only been through practice, I have been able to ace the game.” Besides this, he has beautifully documented his clicks including ‘The Wonderful Wildlife of Gujarat’ in 2015 and ‘The Bears of Kamchatka, Russia in 2019.

However, his biggest achievement remains his wildlife tour in Africa in the Masai Mara region titled ‘The Wild Earth of Africa’ which was sponsored by Mukesh Ambani. At a very young age, Pranay Patel has set a bar for all the aspiring wildlife photographers and he feels happy that his work is being appreciated by many across the world. Another feather in his cap which might be a dream for many is his work being represented for the state. Yes, Pranay Patel is the proud and official photographer of Gujarat tourism. Setting a benchmark at this early age, Pranay Patel has truly redefined creativity with his excellent works.
