picture can speak a thousand words, and an emoji can do even more. Well, that would definitely describe the way Gen Y or Millennials communicate. So much so, that it has also become a way to sext. The only difference here is while Gen X used texts while sexting, Gen Y has taken to emojis in a big way using it to hook up with people.

Sex talk with emojis

Examples of emoji sexting include the emoji for fork and knife, a girl with her hands over her head, and a smirking cat. At first glance, someone in the dark could read that as  “I’m going to eat my cat for dinner.” But is actually an open invite for sex. A hammer, girl, and a showerhead — which could easily be misinterpreted for a murder plot is another example with the  same meaning. The bottomline is emoji texting is all about having fun, and not taking anything too seriously or literally.  And while the older generation dismisses this new tech turned horny application as nothing but a juvenile way to express oneself, Gen Y sees it as just another harmless way to communicate.

How the brinjal became a phallic symbol emoji

Who knew that one day, the eggplant or aubergine would become a popular emoji used widely in sexting. Recognising its potent sexual poweress, creators of emojibator, a vibrator inspired by the brinjal emoji has been now transformed into a purple coloured, eggplant shaped sex toy. But what exactly draws teens to use emojis while sexting? We got some to tell us why emoji sexting is becoming the hottest way to hook up. Rochelle Vegas (name changed), a collegian says, “Emojis are not only used while sexting, though that’s one way of communicating especially for couples. When it comes to friends as well, we have WhatsApp groups where people share double meaning stuff. And it’s all done in good humour, with no intention of harming anyone. All in all, everyone has a good laugh, and moves on. Again, this depends on the people and the wavelength you share with them.

This kind of humour does not go down well with everyone.” Vicky K, an IT professional defends Millennials adding, “Every generation likes to express themselves  in a way that best describes how they feel. Emoji and emoji sexting is one way, and while one generation will dismiss it as juvenile, there are others out there who think it’s sexy and cool. For those rolling their eyes at us for communicating using emojis, sexting or otherwise, a similar case can be made for texting or plain sexting.”

In the end, whether you consider emoji sexting sexy or not, does not change a thing. It will continue to find takers as is evident in the creation of a sex toy that was recently modelled on the eggplant emoji. Emojis may have started off as vibrant, cute pictures that make a conversation interesting, but every technology does change over time and in some cases even gets a horny twist. The latest addition to that list is emoji sexting. Sexy, crude, juvenile or just plain stupid. It’s you who get to decide.
