From vibrant ethnic wear to glamourous make-up and hair dos, the nine days of dance and fun is here. As Navratri kicks off, a number of women opt for skin treatments to ensure they’re looking their radiant best.  Dr Vinu Kriplani, a cosmetologist with over 35 years experience, mentions back facials are much in demand this season. Similar to regular facials these involve cleansing the area, massaging it and applying a mask for the perfect finish. “Most women opt for backless cholis during these nine days and hence come in for treatments. If there are problems, like pigmentation patches or spots then we need to do more than one treatment. It’s important to clean the back thoroughly, make it look bright, fresh and radiant. Sometimes blackheads can also be an issue,” she adds.

This is usually an hour-long treatment. Dr Vinu advises that women should avoid hair removal in this area. “No waxing should be done on the back, as this causes breakouts and blemishes which take a long time to clear out. Laser is also not advisable as it mainly works with thick dark hair which is not found in this area,” she explains.

Of course, it’s not just the back that is in focus. Women want glowing treatments for the face, to make their skin look lighter and get that instant glow.

“We specialise in non-invasive, non-chemical treatments. Facials are popular during the festive season. Also, dark circles are an issue for many. We offer a treatment using lymphatic draining, tightening, and improving the circulation. A special eye mask is used to nourish and improve the area as well,” says Dr Vinu.
