Social media abuzz with ‘Congress list’ for state polls

Political circles were abuzz with activity over a list of Congress candidates which was shared on social media on Sunday. The list circulated in the inner circle of Congress has 78 names of candidates including RPCC chief Sachin Pilot and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot for next assembly election. Though, the party officially has rejected any such being drafted.

According to the messages exchanged on social media, the AICC has initiated a internal survey in party to churn out names of candidates who could be given ticket for assembly assembly election slated in last quarter of the year.

Most of the sitting MLAs are part of the list while those who were defeated in the last assembly election 2013 also figure in it. Initially, 78 names have been finalised which include Pilot who, the list says, could be fielded either from Nagar or Naseerabad assembly constituency. Gehlot from Sadulpur, Pradhumn Singh from Rajakheda, Dr Chandrabhan and Dr Girija Vyas from Udaipur, Rameshwer Dudi from Nokha are among few senior leaders whose names have been figured in the list.

This list has no signature of any agency and authority and simultaneously the party has rejected it out rightly. “This list is being circulated on the social media. I have no information of such list drafted after an internal survey,” said Archana Sharma, party spokesperson, who contested the last election from Malviya Nagar constituency Meanwhile, the Congress sources said that an internal survey over probable candidates took place recently and whether the list is the outcome of the survey could not be confirmed.
