Chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra will conclude with prime minister Narendra Modi addressing a public meeting on Saturday in Ajmer. PM Narendra Modi will address the Booth Workers Conference at the Kayad Maidan in Ajmer for which the BJP has set a target to mobilise around 3 lakh party workers from across the state

Earlier, Modi was scheduled to visit Brahma Temple in Pushkar town and Ajmer Dargah, but now he will only attend the Ajmer rally.

According to earlier programme, prime minister was to visit these holy places and the state government had made full preparations, including a helipad was prepared in Puskar for prime minister’s visit. After the prime minister’s programme was released from the PMO, the police withdrew the security arrangements from dargah and Pushkar. The prime minister will reach the Kayad Maidan at 1 pm and depart from there at 02.05 pm. Chief minister Vasundhara Raje reached Ajmer on Friday. Raje, BJP state president Madan Lal Saini and other leaders reviewed the preparations for the booth conference.

BJP leaders claimed nearly three lakh workers would attend the conference. The Chief Minister also held a meeting of BJP office-bearers and party’s public representatives. The local administration has made extensive arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit. More than 10 IPS officers have been deployed for security arrangements. Ajmer range IG Biju George Joseph, district collector Aarti Dogra, SP Rajesh Singh are camping at the venue.

“This will be a historic rally of the prime minister which will be participated by a large number of people,” Onkar Singh Lakhawat, the chairman of Rajasthan Heritage Preservation and Promotion Authority, said.

He said the party workers were “fully geared up and filled with enthusiasm” for the rally.

Amin Pathan, the chairman of Ajmer Dargah Committee, said he has urged the members of the minority community to attend the Modi’s rally in large numbers.

The state Primary and Secondary Education minister Vasudev Devnani, who represents Ajmer North assembly constituency, has been campaigning in the area and inviting people to attend the rally.

“A large number of people will come to attend the PM’s rally which is significant ahead of the polls,” Devnani said.

Ajmer district has eight assembly constituencies and seven of them are represented by BJP MLAs while the Congress has one seat of Nasirabad.

The ruling party, which had lost the Ajmer Lok Sabha constituency to Congress in bypolls held earlier this year, is trying to build a favourable atmosphere and mood among the voters by holding the rally of Modi, who had addressed an election rally in Ajmer in 2013 also.

The Congress had won the Ajmer Lok Sabha seat by defeating BJP’s Ramswaroop Lamba who is the son of former Ajmer MP Sanwar Lal Jat. The seat went to bypoll after the then sitting MP Sanwar Lal Jat died due to cardiac arrest last year.

The assembly elections in Rajasthan are due later this year. Significantly, the Chief Minister’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra started on  August 4 from Char Bhuja Ji temple of Rajsamand. The Chief Minister visited various assembly constituencies of six divisions out of the seven divisions across the state. Due to the passing away of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Raje could not go to Bharatpur division.
