There is a liklihood that in coming times, the candidates appearing for competitive exams will not have to face stringent action for wearing ornaments of religious relevance. Such indications were given by the delegation of Sikh society in the Secretariat after its meeting with home minister Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday. The delegation of Sikh society had put forward a demand to the home minister through a letter that stated 5 Ks of the Sikh community are being disrespected because of the current rule in place.

“The candidates are participating in the competitive exams are forced to remove these holy Ks.” At the same time, they also expressed strong displeasure on the removal of symbols of other religions as well. The Sikh society also showed their objection towards the removal of mangalsutra of Hindu women and demanded the HM to issue amendment order in the context.

Following a meeting with Kataria, a member of Shaheed Nagar Johad Prabandhak Samiti Tejinder Pal Singh said that they have conveyed their thoughts about the disregard of various religions and demanded amendment in this regard. Kataria has assured that they will soon issue an amendment order in this context before the upcoming competitive examinations to be held on August 19.

A few days ago, the candidates who appeared for RAS examination had brought things of religious significance, in which the Alwar district head Rekha Raju Yadav was asked to remove mangalsutra. She argued that it was a symbol of marriage and refused to remove it. Moreover, she went back without taking part in the competitive examination. The matter was then widely debated and argued and the rules and regulations related to the security were questioned upon.
