Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) meet each other in match number 20 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. While MI are in good touch and have registered three wins, RR have lost momentum after the early promise.

The defending champions have a settled side and the performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) highlighted the same. Veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been sensational this season.

As for the Royals, Steve Smith will have to rally the side and get them going as they have the likes of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson and also Jofra Archer in pace.

Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals, May 1, 2015, Mumbai, Result: Mumbai Indians won by 8 runs

Mumbai Indians had got back on track and Rajasthan Royals' campaign hit a bump. MI took their tally of wins to three. After setting the visitors a stiff target of 188, the hosts were in a spot of bother when young Sanju Samson put RR on course with scintillating innings of 76. However, post his dismissal, RR needed 27 runs from 14 balls and the visitors lost the plot and finished nine runs short.

Another night, another thriller, another chase. At the 14th over, the Royals were cruising and had no business of taking this clash this close. Jasprit Bumrah triggered a collapse and Mustafizur made it longer. However, Gowtham - who had warmed the MI bench for the whole of 2017 - showed them what they missed. He sealed it, with two balls still in the bank. Samson did everything to set it up, and let someone else take the champagne.

It was Jos Buttler again who struck his fifth consecutive fifty as an opener and took Rajasthan home. He had Ajinkya Rahane's run-a-ball innings for the company and got through some sharp deliveries from Jasprit Bumrah - who before today had gotten him out on three out of three occasions. The win took Rajasthan to the fifth position, while Mumbai sat below them, low at sixth.

Mumbai Indians’ top order failed to get going despite some solid contributions from Evin Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard. However, they managed to put up 147/8. Mayank Markande picked up 4/23 and he was given great support by Mustafizur Rahman who took 3/24. At 137/9, it looked like the game was up but Deepak Hooda held his nerve to blast 32 off 25 balls and take them over the line in a thriller.

The RR management were ruthless, sacking Ajinkya Rahane and appointing Steve Smith to lead, even if it meant only for a couple of games that season. Smith rewound the clock back to pre-March-2018 and anchored the chase in typical style. The chase, however, was a lot more special for Riyan Parag, who at one stage outscored Smith to deny Mumbai an opening after they picked up three quick wickets.
