Starting today, ConneXion will debate world corporate issues at conclave

IIMA's annual event, which aims to bring together leaders, academic stalwarts and policy makers, has grown over the years.

ConneXion 2010, which is the annual management conclave organised by IIMA PGPX students, will start its three-day activities today.

They will comprise interaction with industry, nostalgia and academia. It aims to bring together leaders, academic stalwarts and policy makers to debate on issues that the corporate world and public policy makers face. 

ConneXion will be held from October 22 to 24 and is themed on 'Management challenges for emerging opportunities'. Innovative ideas emerging from PGPX students catering to inclusive growth, green technologies and various challenges of marketing innovations will be looked into.

October 22 will commence by addressing challenges to inclusive growth through innovation in policy and practice.

The speakers addressing this subject will include Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, IIMA Prof Anil Gupta, Karumuttu Kannan, MD of Thiagarajar Mills and Chirag Doshi, MD of Walchandnagar Industries Ltd. Presentations made by PGPX students, pursuing working ideas for inclusive growth in various areas such as education, healthcare, environment protection and social development will be analysed by the speakers.

October 23 will feature challenges faced by India as part of an emerging green planet. Speakers on this subject will include JJ Irani, director, Tata Sons, TK Kurien, president of Wipro EcoEnergy, Chender Baljee, CMD of Royal Orchid Hotels, Rajgopal Nogja, president of Lavasa Corporation Limited & HCC Real Estate, SK Das, CEO of Torrence Capital, Vivek Gupta, director of Saran Renewables, and Sumit Kadakia, strategy consultant at Emergent Ventures.

The panel will be chaired by Prof Amit Garg of Public Systems Group at IIMA. Through the day students and industry experts will interact to bring out solutions that would help industrial India reduce its carbon footprint and in a way help deliver an everlasting state of economic, social and environmental prosperity, profitably.

On the last day, October 24, students and industry experts such as Prof Harrick Vin, vice- president & chief scientist at TCS, Sandip Tarkas, president, customer strategy at Future Group, Ravi Krishnan, MD & Sr vice-president IMG South Asia and Prof Abraham Koshy of marketing of IIMA will discuss the role of marketing innovation and the contribution marketing can make in promoting green, sustainable and inclusive growth.

ConneXion started with a group of four managing the events and has now grown big with over 20 volunteers taking care of logistics, event management and media. It will also serve as a platform for IIMA alumni to interact with current participants of various programmes.
