Constituency Profile
The Lok Sabha seat was created post delimitation in 2009 and has over 1,090,000 voters.
The sitting MP is PR Senthilnathan of AIADMK who beat Dhurai Raaj Subha of DMK by a margin of 229385 votes in 2014. Raja H of BJP came third.
In 2009, the seat was won by Congress heavyweight and former union minister P Chidambaram who beat AIADMK’s Raja Kannappan.
In 2019, it’s a direct fight between Congress and BJP as P Chidambaram's son Karti and BJP’s H Raja

They are Arakkonam, Arani, Chennai Central, Chennai North, Chennai South, Chidambaram, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kallakurichi, Kancheepuram, Kanniyakumari, Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Perambalur, Pollachi, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Sivaganga , Sriperumbudur, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Theni, Thoothukkudi, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Viluppuram, Virudhunagar, Tiruvallur.
There’s an interesting battle on the cards with an AIADMK-led NDA alliance with the BJP, PMK, DMDK, Puthiya Neethi Katchi and Puthiya Tamizhagam. Meanwhile, Congress has forged alliances with DMK, two communist parties and other regional parties. Smaller partners include VCK, IUML and KMK.
The AIADMK under Jayalalithaa had managed to win 37 seats, with BJP and PMK getting 1 each. The Congress and the DMK ended up with zero seats in 2014.
