While Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal limited themselves to predicting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley as the future Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister respectively, BJP leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Wednesday endorsed Jaitley for the Prime Minister's post.

She said, "He (Jaitley) is a prime ministerial candidate because he is one of the most senior leaders of the BJP."

Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who is wife of sitting Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu, said: "All our five top people are our prime ministerial candidates. Any one of them can be prime ministerial candidate but his stature is so big that we consider him (Jaitley) as one of those."

Notably in recent poll rallies Parkash Singh Badal had projected Jaitley as the future Deputy Prime Minister while Sukhbir Singh Badal and Cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majitha had projected Jaitley as the future Home minister or Finance Minister.

Jaitley said that he considered this nothing but political barbs and he very well understand the realties.

"I thank everyone for the wishes they have but for me it's a pat on the back," he said.
