The release of Pakistani prisoners in various jails in Saurashtra has delayed duo to some paper work, sources said in Rajkot today.

The Indian government has decided to release 81 Pakistani prisoners kept in various jails in the country, sources said, adding that 58 prisoners in Okha and Jamnagar in Saurashtra region were among those to be released.

However their release has delayed as paperwork related to their identification is yet to be completed, general secretary of National Fish Forum Manish Lodhari said.

The identity of 31 prisoners including seven fishermen and 24 civilians has been verified so far and they would be released on September 15. The remaining 27 prisoners would be released after the completion of the verification, he added.

Earlier, Pakistan had released 442 Indian fishermen from its jails, most of whom were from Saurashtra and Gujarat who had strayed into Pakistani territory while fishing in the sea.
