When Haryana goes to polls on October 15, over 31 lakh more voters, many among them youth, would be eligible to cast their votes since the last assembly polls held in 2009. As many as 31,87,414 more voters are eligible to exercise their franchise as compared to 2009 polls. In all, there are 1,62,16,555 voters in Haryana, including 87,37,116 male and 74,79,439 women.
In 2009, the number of voters aggregated to 1,30,29,141.
The highest increase in the number of voters has been in the age group of 20-29, with more than 10 lakh new voters in this age bracket now eligible to cast their vote since 2009. Further, there were 5,29,476 voters in the age group of 18 and 19 years, out of which 3,68,987 were males and 1,60,489 females, Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer, Shrikant Walgad said here today.
