Movie makers will now not be allowed to shoot at Golden Temple complex as Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages the shrine, has imposed a ban on shooting of commercial films there.

"We have imposed a complete ban on shooting of commercial films at Golden Temple complex," SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar said on Saturday. However, he said shooting of only religious movie and documentary would be allowed.

He said the decision was taken to prevent any "disturbance" at the religious place.

"The shooting of films usually creates disturbance at the Golden Temple complex and devotees who come here in large numbers to pay obeisance also face problems. That is why we decided to ban film shooting," Makkar said.

Aamir Khan's 'Rang De Basanti' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jori' are among several Bollywood movies which were shot at the Golden Temple complex. A few scenes of "Sarbjit", a biopic on Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh, were also shot at Golden Temple last month.
