International flight operations were shifted to the domestic terminal at Sardar Vallabhai Patel (SVP) Airport for today, while one flight to Dubai from here was cancelled following heavy downpour, a top Airport Authority of India (AAI) official said.

"We have opened additional counters of customs and immigration (four for arrival and two for departure) at the domestic terminal for today to facilitate international flight operations," the official said.

"Electricity has also been restored on a trial basis. If it doesn't rain further then we expect normalcy to return soon," he said.

Major international flight operations, both arrival and departure, from the SVP airport begins in evening from 1745 hours onwards and lasts till 0300 hours, an AAI official said.

Flight operations at the international terminal of SVP airport were hampered in the morning because of waterlogging, due to overnight rains.

"Following the waterlogging, electricity supply to the terminal had to be cut off as a precautionary measure," AAI authorities said, adding that one international flight of Emirates to Dubai from here was cancelled.

Both international and domestic flight operations remained affected at SVP airport due to severe waterlogging and poor visibility.
