In the wee hours on Tuesday, IAF carried out strike targeting terror camps in Balakot in Pakistan. As soon as the news broke, people start celebrating IAF strike as the revenge of Pulwama attack. The social media was abuzz with IAF's achivement.

The Indian Army took Twitter to praise the "non-military, pre-emptive airstrikes" carried out by the Indian Air Force across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan's Balakot.

Quoting famous poet Shivmangal Singh 'Suman', the Army wrote,

आज सिन्धु ने विष उगला है,
लहरों का यौवन मचला है।
आज ह्रदय में और सिन्धु में, साथ उठा है ज्वार,
तूफानों की ओर घुमा दो,  नाविक निज पतवार।

IAF sources said a dozen Mirage 2000 fighter jets struck a major terrorist camp across the LoC and completely destroyed it. Sources said 200-300 terrorists are estimated to have been killed in the strikes.

The airstrike was carried out in less than two weeks after the Pulwama attack. On February 14, a suicide bomber driving a car packed with explosives rammed a bus carrying Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troops, killing 40 jawans.

The convoy which was attacked on the Jammu-Srinagar highway had over 70 vehicles and more than 2,500 personnel. The Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group claimed responsibility for the terror attack.
