Deputy Commissioner of Budgam said the IAF helicopter has crashed and one charred body has been recovered.

An Indian Air Force transport helicopter crashed in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Garend Kalan village in the district.
Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, Dr Sehrish Asgar told DNA that an aircraft has crashed and two bodies have been recovered. "Only IAF can give further details," she said.

Initial speculation was that the aircraft that crashed was a MiG-21 fighter jet. But the aircraft has been identified as a Mil Mi-17 transport helicopter of the IAF.
There was also speculation if the aircraft was downed by the Pakistan Air Force planes that violated the Line of Control on Wednesday. However, Pakistani military spokesperson Asif Gafoor said Pakistan had nothing to do with the crash of the aircraft.
The IAF is yet to comment on the crash olr reveal the names of its personnel who were flying in the copter at the time of its crash.
