With the coming together of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh, the anti-BJP forces are hopeful of their chances in Bihar too.

Welcoming the alliance, Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said, "BJP's defeat in UP and Bihar is now final."

However, while the picture is now pretty clear in neighbouring UP, things do not seem to be working out fine within the Grand Alliance (GA) in Bihar.

For one, the seat sharing talks among the GA constituents - Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) of Upendra Kushwaha, Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular (HAM-S) of Jitan Ram Manjhi, Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) of Sharad Yadav and Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP) of Son of Mallah fame Mukesh Sahni - is yet to be finalised for the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar.

To add to the seat division woes, the party leaders are making "unwarranted comments" against allies, much to the worry of the top brass.

On Saturday, RJD's Vijay Prakash, made it clear that while Congress President Rahul Gandhi may be the face of the alliance at the national level, in Bihar, the polls will be fought under the leadership of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. "In Bihar, whatever decision will be taken by Tejashwi, will be agreeable to all," he said.

In the absence of Lalu (presently serving sentence in fodder scam cases), Tejashwi has been at the helm of affairs of the RJD and strategising for the 2019 general election.

The HAM-S and RLSP leaders have also projected their respective party chiefs -- Manjhi and Kushwaha as the face of the GA in Bihar. While Manjhi has already served as the chief minister of Bihar, Kushwaha's aspirations for the top post in the state are known to all.

The Congress though refuses to accept Tejashwi's leadership stating, "The 2019 polls is for the Lok Sabha and it will be Narendra Modi versus Rahul Gandhi."

It may be recalled that the NDA faced a similar issue in Bihar over the face of the alliance for the Lok Sabha polls, which they "resolved" after announcing a 50-50 seat division for the BJP and JD-U in Bihar.

RJD Unhappy With Cong’s Big Claims

In 2014, RJD and Congress had contested 27 and 13 seats respectively. The RJD won four and Congress two. RJD wants to contest the same number or even more as it enjoys larger vote share, but the Congress is making tall claims
