Bringing smiles of the faces of automobile dealers, large numbers of prospective buyers are making beelines at dealers' outlets with inquiries and bookings for Navratri.
Several city-based dealers have claimed that the footfalls have increased by almost 50% ahead of Navratri.
Meanwhile, in a significant social change, there are growing numbers of buyers, who no longer consider the ongoing Pitra Paksha an inauspicious period for making various purchases including cars and two-wheelers.
Santosh Korde, general manager Vinayak Ford told dna that following high demand, the bookings of favoured model Ecosport has been discontinued and there has also been a rise in demand for other variants such as Figo and Fiesta.
"Most of the buyers want deliveries in Navratri but with changing mindset, there are customers who are okay with finalising the deal in Pitra Paksha," Korde added.
He, however, added that inflated interest rates on auto loans and change in income slab for seeking auto loans has hampered sales this year.
Aditya Kasliwal from Kasliwal Hyundai said that with growing trend of nuclear families, Pitra Paksha is no longer an ill-fated period for purchases among younger generation.
"The inquiries and bookings have surged by almost 50% this month," said Kasliwal, adding that models such as Grand i10, Verna and Elantra are in demand.
Anup Tiwari, from Volkswagen also affirmed that festivities have helped market getting over sluggish sentiments.
As compared to last few months, inquiries have surged to almost 150% as the buyers have started for making purchases during Navratri and later on, he added.
According to Tiwari, different variants of Polo and Vento are sought after models from prospective buyers.
The automobile dealers in general agreed that the buyers' response would only pick up further in a week or so.
Period from Navratri till Dhanteras is the duration when automobile dealers gross maximum sales of the year, Tiwari claimed, adding that dealers are hopeful that this season would help them getting over recession.
