Congress slams Mamata Banerjee for no-confidence motion

'Mamata knows very well that she can't move the motion alone. Therefore she is banking on support of communal forces like BJP and arch-rival Marxists. This is nothing but lack of sense and principle in politics,' WBPCC President Pradip Bhattacharya told reporters here.

West Bengal Congress today hit out at Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee for proposing to bring a no-confidence motion against the UPA government with the help of "communal forces and Marxists", saying her party will have "no credibility left" and the motion will be defeated.

"Mamata knows very well that she can't move the motion alone. Therefore she is banking on support of communal forces like BJP and arch-rival Marxists. This is nothing but lack of sense and principle in politics," WBPCC President Pradip Bhattacharya told reporters here.

He alleged that this "friendship between unequals" was only for 'convenience' at the cost of political ideology and principle just to "wipe out" Congress.

"With this attitude, Banerjee will have no credibility left to fight against either the BJP or the Marxists," he pointed out.

The state congress would observe a "Dhikkar Divas" (Condemnation Day)" on November 22, the day Parliament reconvenes and when the TMC planes to move the no-confidence motion, he said.

Announcing yesterday her party's decision to move a no-confidence motion, Mamata said she was ready to talk to the BJP, the CPI(M) and other Left parties, if they want.
