Targeting the state government, BJP President Amit Shah said that the state government wasn’t enthusiastic, but they were enthusiastic about celebrating Tipu-Jayanti.
He claimed Siddaramaiah’s Congress government was indulging in vote-bank politics, which wouldn’t ‘benefit the people of Karnataka’.

He said: “Karnataka Mahotsav was supposed to be grand but state govt wasn't enthusiastic for it, they are enthusiastic about Tipu Jayanti. Celebrating #TipuJayanti & doing vote bank politics will not benefit people of Karnataka.”

He also said: “Siddaramaiah Ji, under your govt over 10 BJP-RSS workers have been killed, do you have an answer for it? Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka has "broken all records" in corruption.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally on January 28 on the conclusion of the yatra to be led by the party's chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa.

Party workers from the state's 28,000 polling booths are expected to take part in Shah's rally.

Top party leaders, including Union ministers and chief ministers, will attend the yatra, which will pass through the state's 224 Assembly seats, the statement said.

The Congress is in power in the state and the BJP is making all-out efforts to oust it in the Assembly polls scheduled to be held early next year.
