Will not direct 'Hansel and Gretel 2', says director Tommy Wirkola

Tommy Wirkola, who directed and penned the 2013 action-horror film 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters', says he will not helm its sequel.

Wirkola, who has also directed Norwegian zombie film Dead Snow 1 and its second instalment, said he wants to try hand at different project rather than sticking to sequels, reported Aceshowbiz.

"I've just decided to not direct Hansel & Gretel 2. I have been lately attached to a few more things, it's just a matter of time and priorities. I did Dead Snow 1, then Hansel & Gretel 1, and then Dead Snow 2. I want to do something a little bit different now and not just do sequels," he said.

Although he steps down from his position as the director of Hansel & Gretel 1, Wirkola still returns to the scriptwriting duty.

"I did write the script and I hope to be involved in it. But yeah, I won't be directing it," he said.

Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton who headlined the first movie haven't been signed on for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 2.
