Baz Luhrmann is one of those rare Hollywood film-makers who is a huge fan of Bollywood musicals. So it’s no surprise that the film-maker decided to take part in a Republic Day event in the land of Bollywood.

“He will reach Mumbai on January 26 to take part in a live art exhibition with his friend and critically acclaimed artist Vincent Fantauzzo,” says an official of an art hotel in Bandra, which will host Luhrmann and Fantauzzo.

“Baz, who is an acclaimed artist himself, will paint on the walls of the hotel with Vincent. Their mural theme is a fusion of contemporary and Indian dance. The proceeds from the event will be donated to Deeds, a charity that works for the hearing impaired,” the hotel official says.

The rest of Luhrmann’s itinerary in India is even more interesting. After the art event, he will hop on to a motorcycle and travel to remote villages in Rajasthan. He will photograph the villagers and return to New Delhi to host an exhibition of his photographs. t
