Renowned Telugu actor Mohan Babu, who runs the Tirupati-based Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust, is popular for its high standards in education with courses from kindergarten to post-graduation, has been placed under a house arrest! Going into the details, the actor had announced a couple of days ago that he would go on a rally along with the students of his Sree Vidyaniketan Engineering College, called for a protest with regards to the fee reimbursement scheme run by the Andhra Pradesh government. Apparently, things were getting tough for several students with the reimbursement not happening and several delays being seen and so, the actor decided to take all the students of the college on a peaceful rally in the temple town.

However, things didn’t go quite as planned and even as around 10,000 students were set to go on the rally, on Friday morning the police decided to intervene claiming law and order problems and tried to stop the rally. But things escalated when the police house arrested Mohan Babu on the same day in the morning, in a bid to stop the rally, on the charges of violation of police 30 act and 144 CRPC.

The actor took to social media where he posted details about the rally and wrote: “Wanted to take a peaceful rally today in Tirupathi protesting the non payment of the fee reimbursement of the students by the Govt.... Police have arrived at our home in Tirupathi and looks like they are not going to allow the rally. (sic).”

In a following tweet, Mohan Babu wrote: “Why is The government not paying the students fee? And the rally I want to is for the students. I don’t gain anything from it. 19 crores have been pending and for what? Why isn’t the government honoring their commitment???? (sic).”

The actor’s son and actor Vishnu Manchu responded to the incident and wrote in a tweet: “Father has never been a person who can be bullied. He taught us to challenge bullies. Why other college owners are not talking about the fee reimbursement, only they can answer. Either they are scared of the big bullies or in bed with them. (sic).” Mohan Babu’s daughter and actor Lakshmi retweeted this.

It is to be seen to where this incident escalates the issue to.
