Talk show host Oprah Winfrey's representatives have issued a warning over a scheme allegedly seeking to entice thousands of pounds out of companies with the promise of an official endorsement from the media mogul.

Winfrey, 56, features an annual product list on the Oprah Winfrey Show called Oprah's Favorite Things, which points viewers towards potential Christmas gifts, and it has become known for boosting sales of items which are featured.

A new company called New Products Events has allegedly been offering clients the chance to attend an event where they will be able to talk to producers at Winfrey's Harpo productions company about how to be included on the list for a fee of £3,333.

But according to the New York Post, Winfrey's reps are adamant the scheme is not official.

"No one at Harpo has sanctioned such an event or is involved in it," the Daily Express quoted the rep as saying.
