Actor Mreenal Deshraj, who went on a self-imposed hibernation after ‘Kahin Toh Hoga’ in which she played the vamp, has now resurfaced with a website of her own!

Actor Mreenal Deshraj, who went on a self-imposed hibernation after ‘Kahin Toh Hoga’ in which she played the vamp (Shilpa Arora), has now resurfaced with a website of her own! Talking about the same, Mreenal says, “It was actually my sister’s idea to have a website that will showcase my work and will also allow my fans to interact with me. Also, it was difficult to keep explaining my range of work to those who’d approach me with offers. But the website is still in the nascent stage.”
When quizzed about her long absence from the small screen, Mreenal enlists her reasons saying,“Firstly, I had got a bit tired of playing a vamp in so many shows including ‘Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai’, ‘Pancham’ and ‘Dor’. Also there were certain contractual issues with Balaji, which prevented me from working elsewhere. I lost out on a good role in the film, ‘Good Boy Bad Boy’ because of that. Besides, after one and a half years in ‘KTH’, I found that my track was running awry. Simultaneously the serial was also wrapping up.”
She continues, “So I decided to take up only good work. But I realised that all the offers that came my way were clones of Shilpa Arora—the same hairstyle, the same make-up, the same expressions! Also, people thought that now that I was out of work, I’d be game to be a ‘replacement’ for other characters.”
Mreenal asserts, “I am looking for quality work on my terms with regards to payments, timings and conditions. I’ve no problem doing any kind of role—be it negative or positive but it should be meaty. Till then, I’m happy reading, taking swimming sessions with Aamna (Sharief, actor) and partying with friends!”
