Imagine a world where there are no fast motorcycles, no cricket, no football, no beer, no action movies and all the women have turned lesbians! It may sound unbelievable but a world without men could be a reality very soon.

Researchers believe that the Y chromosome, which is vital for the production of a male offspring, is getting  depleted in every new generation of the male species. It points out that there will be a change of 10 per cent in the fertility of men in new generations to come. Also the sperm count in males has been found to be reducing due to many factors such as workload, stress, environment  pollution and smoking and alcohol  consumption.

The basic human chromosome pattern is female. The Y chromosome becomes only active after a few weeks of conception and is responsible for making the ‘baby’ into a male. Thus, it would be apt to say that all men are genetically modified women. But unlike other chromosomes, the Y chromosome also can’t repair itself and is estimated that this chromosome might even disappear completely in about 1,25,000 years.
While a lot of men have been worried because of this study, plenty of women are also unhappy with the results of this finding. They feel that the world cannot be complete without their men. We asked what would happen in such a scenario and here is what some people had to say:

Candice Pinto, model
Men and women both pretend as if they can be happy without each other. But in actuality I don’t think it’s true. Women may be doing better than men in lots of areas of life but the society is not at all complete without men. Women frankly cannot do without men.

Roshni Chopra, actor
I am not the feminist types who would be happy if men are not around. The world will be a damn boring place if men vanish from the face of it. I have grown up believing that god made man and woman as different sides of the same coin. If one is missing the world cannot run.

Tupur Chatterjee, model
I’ll be used to a life without men if I am born in a world which doesn’t have men. But it will make a major difference to women if there are no men now. My
father is an important figure in my life and I think I would be a totally different person if he wasn’t there.
