'We will make him humane': Saif Ali Khan opens up on his character Lankesh in 'Adipurush'

Saif Ali Khan is gearing up to play the role of the main antagonist Lankesh in Prabhas starrer Adipurush. With this film, the actor will be reuniting with his Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior director Om Raut. While introducing the character of Lankesh, Prabhas wrote on his Instagram page, "7000 years ago existed the world's most intelligent demon!" Now, during an interaction, Saif spoke at length about playing the role of Lanka's king on the big screen.

Saif told Mumbai Mirror, "It’s interesting to play a demon king, fewer strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose."

Earlier in a statement, Saif had shared his excitement on being a part of Adipurush. He stated, "I am thrilled to be working with Omi Dada again. He has a really big vision and knowledge of technology to reinvigorate this story. The way Tanhaji was shot has taken me to a different level from the cutting edge era of cinema, and this time it would be a new experience. This is an extraordinary project and I am thrilled to be a part of it! I look forward to fighting swords with the mighty Prabhas and playing the role of villain."

The female lead of Adipurush is yet to be announced. The release date of the 3D mythological flick has been announced and it will hit the screens on August 11, 2022.
