Miscreant shoots at cop in Vasant Kunj

A constable was shot at while he was on duty at a barricade in southwest Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area on Sunday evening, after he intercepted two persons roaming in the area. According to the police, head constable Subhash and constable Satbeer were on patrolling duty in the Masoodpur village near Vasant Kunj when, around 6.30 pm, they noticed two persons roaming in the area and asked them to stop. 

“On being asked to stop, one of them started running away. Subhash then ran behind him while Satbeer managed to catch hold of the other one. Later, the accused pulled out a country-made pistol and shot at Satbeer. The bullet went through his left shoulder,” a senior police officer said. 

Hearing the gunshot, Subhash ran back and informed other staff members about the incident. “Satbeer was rushed to Fortis hospital, after which he was shifted to AIIMS. He is stated to be out of danger,” the officer added. 

A case under sections 186 (whoever voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), and 307 (attempt to remember) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
