Man secretly filming girl in hotel, nabbed

A 23-year-old college student who was on an educational tour in the Capital, alleged a man at the hotel she was staying in, tried to videograph her changing her clothes inside her room in West Delhi's Kirti Nagar area. The accused was arrested by the police soon after the incident.

According to the police, the victim who is on an educational tour and studies at a college in Ranchi, was residing at the Jagir Hotel in Kirti Nagar. The girl told the police that while she was changing inside her room she heard a clicking sound and realised there was something amiss. She saw a phone through a little gap in the bathroom and a mobile phone recording her. She raised an alarm and the accused ran away.

After the hotel staff heard her screams for help they caught hold of the accused identified as Deepak Bora (29). The police was informed and he was arrested.

According to the police, the accused said that he was videographing her when he by mistake pressed the volume button which made the girl realise what was happening. Photos of other women have also been found in Bora's mobile phone which has been sent for forensic examination. Police are trying to identify if the accused was doing this to other women who stayed at the hotel.

Speaking on the incident Vijay Kumar, DCP West said "A case under section of 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) and 354 (C) (any man who watches, or captures the image of a woman engaging in a private act) under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act was registered at Kirti Nagar police station."
