The team on Friday picked up some samples from the spot but did not find any important lead in preliminary investigation.
Even after the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case, it appears UP police have not learned any lessons. The reason: the forensic team in the Jewar rape, murder and dacoity case, reached 24 hours after the incident.
The team on Friday picked up some samples from the spot but did not find any important lead in preliminary investigation.
The incident had come to fore on Thursday morning and before the police team could reach the area, several hundred locals, media persons and vehicles reached the spot, which led to the destruction of important forensic evidence.
Some samples have been sent for further testing but the team admits there is no important lead.
"No important lead has been found from forensic team. The team has made DNA sampling. The samples have been sent for further tests and it will take two to three weeks to get the reports," a senior police official said.
Another loophole in the police investigation came to the fore that the women had taken a bath before medical examination.
"It was duty of the police to tell the victims to not to take a bath before medical examination but the police did not tell them.
"Now police and the health department are saying that there is no sign of rape in the initial tests," Yusuf Saifi, counsel for the victims told DNA.
