Almost a week after actor Arjun Rampal was accused of assaulting a visitor at a pub in hotel Shangri-La, the hotel again witnessed a brawl on Friday morning. It was during the early hours when a youth allegedly created a ruckus and assaulted guards at one of the pubs at the hotel, where he was denied entry as the pub was closed. Police also said that the man created drama at RML hospital where he was taken for medical examination, and assaulted two policemen assisting him.

According to the police, the incident took place around 5 am when two policemen from Connaught Place police station arrived at the hotel after receiving a call of brawl. Senior officers said that the man, who was identified as 28-year-old Nishid Gupta, a resident of Kailash Colony, was with four others, including his parents, sister and brother-in-law.

"The man was in an inebriated and injured state. He created a ruckus at at RML hospital and refused to cooperate. He assaulted two cops, and injured them," said police.

However, a video of the hospital shot apparently by one of the cops also went viral, in which Gupta's family members are seen accusing the police of having assaulted him. Gupta's mother, father and sister were seen in the video accusing the two cops of having assaulted him when he refused to cooperate for a medical examination.

Senior police officers said that a case under IPC sections 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 335 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt on provocation) and 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) was registered against him and the matter is being probed.

"Medical examination has confirmed that the man was drunk. We are also checking the CCTV footages of the hotel to find out exactly what happened there. The bouncers who were involved have also been traced and we are questioning them," said a senior officer.
