Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with the new British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the sidelines of G7 summit in the French city of Biarritz on Sunday.

This was also the first time the two leaders met since Boris Johnson began his reign as the British PM.

"PM Modi begins by congratulating PM Johnson on England’s spectacular win in the Third Test of the Ashes a short while ago. The two leaders are discussing ways to strengthen India-UK cooperation," the Prime Minister's Office tweeted.

Later, Johnson asked for an iPad and went through the entire day's highlights of the match. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison later joking tempered to well-wish Johnson regarding the Ashes but he replied with "Two to go, two to go", while referring to the last two matches of the series.

An extraordinary knock of 135 not out from all-rounder Ben Stokes secured England a thrilling one-wicket win in the third test match of the Ashes series on Sunday at Headingley.

The hosts finally leveled the score in the series against the Aussies at 1-1, with the home side successfully chasing down a record target of 359 in an eventful match.

England started the day hoping to prevent Australia from retaining the Ashes. England were 286-9 and still needed 73 more runs from the target score.

Australia only needed a win to ensure a series defeat was out of the equation but things did not turn out the way they hoped for.

With just one wicket in hand, England's 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup final hero Ben Stokes took on the responsibility and smashed eight sixes all corners of the ground in Leeds to get his side close enough to their highest-ever test match second-innings total to win.
