When Murali Vijay was dropped from India’s playing XI prior to the third Test at Trent Bridge, a lot of people began speculating that it could be the end of Vijay’s Test career.

In India's last away series, against South Africa in January this year, Vijay returned 1, 13, 46, 9, 8 and 25 from six innings.

In the first two Tests against England, which also featured Vijay, the opening batsman came with the scores of 20 and 6 at Edgbaston before he clinched a pair (two ducks) at the Lord’s and that led to his axing from the team.

However, Vijay has said that he is going to be positive and will aim to return to the team as soon as possible.

"I will be back playing for India. I am positive, will sort a few things out, make runs – (but) firstly, I want India to win the series in England," Vijay said.

“It is not the first time this has happened to me. I believe age is only a number. As long as my feet move and my head is still, I will continue to play. The English pacemen had their game plan worked out this time, bowling closer to my body and making me play a lot more deliveries," the opening batsman added.

Earlier, it was understood that Indian captain sledged his counterpart on Day three of the ongoing fourth Test at Southampton on Saturday.

The dismissal of Moeen Ali brought Root at the crease to join Jennings and he had three Indian slips to welcome him.

According to reports, Kohli left his slip cordon and went closer to Root. Although Kohli was not as close to Root as he was to Jennings earlier, the distance was enough for Root to hear what the Indian captain murmured

Regular job, running away from three,” Kohli told Root, who came in to bat at No. 4 instead of No. 3, the position where he had batted all summer.

Kohli then turned back to return to the third slip before he slowed down again and shot this to Root, “Unreal man, unreal.” In return, the English skipper just smiled.
